1 in stock

Felt food with fabulous faces

Patterns, felt and floss for more than 18 itty-bitty treats, each one with a smile stitched on.

  • Instructions and patterns for over 18 cheerful mini foods
  • No sewing experience needed; the book teaches every stitch
  • Tips for customizing faces and inventing your own snacks
  • One of the most-loved kits on our shelf

Notes from the people who made it

A donut, a strawberry, a slice of pie, all small enough to hide in a fist. Each treat is two pieces of felt, a pinch of stuffing and a face, which is exactly the right size for a first sewing project.

By the fourth treat most makers stop looking at the stitch guide. By the eighth they are designing their own menu.

Sew Mini Animals

$22.99 Save $-22.99

Mini plushies, full-size bragging rights

Stitch and stuff up to 14 fuzzy felt animals, then give them hats, bows and glasses.

  • Everything for up to 14 animals is in the box
  • 12 sheets of felt and 8 colors of embroidery floss
  • 15 sets of precut felt eyes and cheeks save the fiddly cutting
  • No prior sewing experience necessary

Notes from the people who made it

These rate very high on the look-what-I-made scale. The 48-page book starts with threading a needle and ends with a sloth wearing spectacles.

Precut eyes and cheeks mean the faces come out right the first time, which keeps a new sewer going long enough to get good.

Lego Gear Bots

$24.99 Save $-24.99

Turn the crank. The yeti waves.

Eight crank-powered automata from LEGO Technic bricks and papercraft, including DJ Bubbles, an octopus who spins records.

  • Build 8 physics-driven kinetic creatures
  • Every LEGO element you need is included: 62 in all
  • 10 sheets of papercraft give each bot its character
  • 64-page book explains axles, cams and cranks along the way

Notes from the people who made it

An automaton moves because a hidden axle pushes a cam that lifts a rod. The same idea runs the pistons in an engine. Here it makes a pterodactyl flap.

The papercraft shells go over the mechanism, so you see the machine first and the character second. That order matters.
