The beaux-arts reliefwork in the derelict Casino Building at the southend of the Asbury Park boardwalk has always fascinated me. Chef-illustrator James Mignola captures one of the creatures, frothing at the mouth, a tribute to the sea monsters 16th and 17th century cartographers drew at the edge of the known world.
